The Secret To Burning Fat Consistently

To do or not to do? To try or not to try? The majority of people stick with what they know. What most overweight people 'know' is unhealthy processed foods and drive-through dinners. The majority of people will choose excess over self-restraint. Self-Discipline and cutting out comfort foods is a scary thought that can wait in the shadows until tomorrow.

This is the perspective of the average overweight American these days. The information-overload that surrounds our daily lives has caused more stagnation than ever. People will search for weeks for the perfect 'fat burning foods', under the impression that all of those people with six packs have found some secret food that they're not telling anyone about. Just for the record, they haven't. But, if there was a secret to burning fat, and looking great in the long-term then it's this:

'Any plan can work in the short-term. Motivation will be high in the short-term and any calorie deficit will result in weight loss. If you want to burn fat in the long-term, and keep it off, then cut out refined foods. Eat real food. That's animal proteins, vegetables, natural fats, and natural starches'.

It's that simple. Really. If the average overweight American removed refined food from their diet, ate real foods, and didn't even pay attention to other nutritional concerns, they would burn fat, improve their health, and feel better. It might not be enough to get them into fitness-model shape, but it would get them on the right road. Food choices, are the single most important facet of 'how to burn fat'.

This simple solution came to me accidentally several years ago when researching nutrition papers concerning the effects of low-fat and low-carb diets. At that time, I was still on the fat loss path myself, strictly following a 'how to have abs' plan I'd found on the internet. I realized I was looking into a debate that was a minor scratch on the surface of the real debate; refined food Vs real food.

I could read every diet on the internet, I could read every opinion on why fat burning plan X was better than fat burning plan Y - it didn't matter. Food choices were always going to be more important than the exact plan I followed - whether it be low-carb or low-fat. When you peer deep into the health and fitness industry, you find an industry of extremes. Don't subscribe to a certain 'camp', you can improve your health, fitness, and physique all at the same time. individually exclusive goals are not the aim. The food choices you make are the key.

Any plan will work in the short-term despite how ridiculous it may be. This is a fact that many people don't realize. It is possible to lose weight eating only fries if calories are low enough. However, nobody wants to be counting 'points' or calories for the rest of their life. Why can't we just make good food choices and not worry about it? Do you really think that our ancestors, who never suffered from the obesity epidemic we see today, counted all their calories? Or, saved up their 'points' so that they could have doughnuts all day on a Friday? No, they didn't. They consumed mostly natural foods grown in the ground, animal meats, and fish. They were also able to work longer hours than us, often in hard manual jobs. So what does this tell you about their energy levels?

Eating natural foods is the secret to burning fat in the long-term because it's sustainable. Eating lots of processed foods leads to feeling constantly hungry, miserable and tired. If your idea of a diet is to just limit yourself to smaller portions of unhealthy foods, eventually you're going to go on an uncontrollable binge. I know because I've been there myself. It's also why so many people have yo-yo weight loss. As soon as the initial motivation declines, and the hunger get's more intense, it's harder to stop another binge. This isn't a sustainable way of living.

With natural foods you get far more nutrients from your calories than you would with manufactured foods. This is where the term 'empty calories' comes from. Not only are we getting more nutrients from our calories, it's very difficult to over-eat when only consuming real, natural foods. Remember, we're talking about 'real' foods here. Not foods which claim to be 'healthy' or 'low-fat' on the packaging, such as cereals, which are often heavily processed and full of sugars.

Remember the 'secret': Choose real, natural foods and avoid refined, processed foods. This is the most important basic principle of any diet you attempt. Making this change will get you on the path to success with your body transformation goals. Most other nutritional topics are just the bells and whistles to go on the solid base you'll have established.

The reasons that obesity is such an issue today is because people are eating all of the wrong foods. Chips, sodas, fried foods and cookies are readily available, which makes it even more easy for people to gain weight.

The healthy diet food list:

Below are some of the foods that a healthy diet consists of:

Lean protein (poultry, fish, lean beef)

Whole grains

Low-fat and fat-free dairy products (milk, yogurt)

Those who need a more descriptive example about what they should be eating everyday can check out one of the many free diet plans that are available online.

Another one of the most important things that people can do to lose weight quickly is drink plenty of water. It seems so simple, but it is something that many people neglect. Approximately 65-70 percent of the human body is made up of water, so drinking plenty of it is one of the best things that people can do for their health.

Water helps promote weight loss in three ways. One of the ways that it promotes weight loss is by replacing sugary beverage. A twelve ounce can of coke is about 140 calories. If a person drinks three cokes per day, that is 420 empty calories added to his or her diet. If one replaces those three cups with a bottle of water, he or she will be able to save 420 calories.

Water has also been shown to help promote a feeling of fullness. One of the root causes of weight gain is overindulging. Studies have shown that people who drink a glass of water before a meal eat less than those who do not. Additionally, water also helps rid the body of excess toxins.

People also need to make sure that they are exercising regular. Researchers have found that half of the population does not engage in regular exercise. Exercise is not only effective for promoting weight loss, but it also helps people keep the weight off for the rest of their lives.

Experts recommend being physically active for at least 30 minutes per day. However, those who are trying to lose weight should aim for about an hour most days of the week. Walking is one of the simplest exercises that a person can do because it is something that the body was designed to do naturally. Other forms of aerobic exercise that one may want to consider include: jogging, dancing, skating and playing a sport. Additionally, people should also make sure that they include resistance exercises in their regimen.

One of the most important things that people can do to keep their bodies healthy is maintain a healthy weight. Eating a healthy diet and exercising will help people lose weight fast.

Meal Replacement Shakes for Diabetics - The Visalus Shake for Diabetic Weight Loss

If you already have diabetes, losing 10 to 15 pounds may help you lower your blood glucose, blood pressure, and improve your blood fats. Losing weight may also help you cut down on some of the medicines you take. If you are at risk for type 2 diabetes, even a small amount of weight loss could potentially prevent or delay the onset of the disease.

There are many ways and options of tackling the challenge of losing weight safely and effectively for diabetics. The ViSalus Shake weight loss program is one proven solution has resulted in statistically significant weight loss results for patients with diabetes.

For most, time is always a factor for anyone when it comes to eating healthy and fueling the body for optimal metabolism and weight loss. Meal replacement shakes are one of the quickest ways to enjoy a well balanced meal when one is short on time. Meal replacement shakes (MRS) are thought to be a diet shake because they serve to satisfy the appetite without having to take in more calories and fat from a typically prepared meal. It has been proven that meal replacement shakes can be a beneficial aid for diabetics and other dieters alike in jump-starting their weight loss efforts.

While not a magic bullet or secret sauce, meal replacement shakes can definitely become part of a healthy weight management solution for diabetics when paired with a healthy low calorie lifestyle. Even the American Diabetes Association agrees. In fact, meal replacement shakes are actually a very underrated weight loss solution. An optimal MRS will provide the perfect, small meal that is high in protein, low in fat and carbohydrates while offering essential vitamins and minerals our bodies need.

One of the main benefits of using a meal replacement shake is that you know the exact serving size, the carbohydrate count, and the calories. While MRS are great, I want to reiterate they are not a magic solution that so many look for in an effort to lose fat quickly and build muscle, often resorting to metabolism boosting drinks and diet pills that claim miraculous results. Typically it takes us years to put on weight and body fat from our poor eating habits, so the only way to undo this damage in a healthy way is to develop good eating habits. Meal replacement shakes help to do just that. Diabetics are able to see consistent weight loss results while learning to make lifestyle changes to help keep the weight off for the long haul.

A high quality meal replacement shake for diabetics addresses the 3 key common challenges diabetics face when trying to lose or maintain weight:

1. Getting good nutrition while cutting calories.
2. Boosting a tired metabolism and keeping energy levels going on fewer calories
3. Controlling the hunger and stress of dieting.
4. Maintaining Blood Gluclose at optimal levels

One thing that many are concerned about when considering incorporation of MRS is the taste. Well, let me tell you, I have tried almost every brand on the market today and I can attest that a healthy meal replacement protein shake can taste great, leave you satisfied and help you lose weight. One that I've found to taste great and meet diabetic requirements for optimal nutrition is the ViSalus Vi-Shape Nutritional Meal Replacement Shake.

The ViSalus low carb protein shake includes a unique, concentrated and highly absorbable blend of proteins called Tri-sorb protein. This shake offers the highest quality whey protein available, whey hydrosolate, along with the whey protein isolate and non GMO (non- genetically modified) soy with the isoflavones removed. The tri-sorb protein is the fastest absorbed and utilized form of protein available on the market. This protein has been processed to remove fat, lactose, carbohydrates and estrogen producing components (isoflavones) to provide the most pure concentrated protein possible.

As a diabetic, you will likely find the Vi-Shape Nutritional Shake to be a great meal replacement shake for diabetic nutrition. There are several reasons why the ViSalus Nutritional Shakes lead the pack when compared to other competitive meal replacement shake brands such as Avocare, Shakeology, Slim-Fast, Amway, Shaklee, Limu, Myoplex and others. It comes in with fewer calories, less fat, cholesterol, sodium sugars and carbohydrates. The Vi-Shape Shake is a diabetic safe weight loss solution because it has less then 1 g of sugar and just 7 g of carbohydrates, most of which is fiber. Not to mention, it tastes great!

In today's economy, it cannot be taken lightly that the ViSalus Vi-Shape Nutritional Shake is almost $1 less than most competitive brands. Additionally, ViSalus has introduced 'the refer 3 and get your product free' program which means that you can continue to get your Vi-Shape meal replacement shakes for free month after month.

If you are a diabetic and looking for options to help manage or eliminate indicators of this disease, you should investigate the ViSalus Vi-Shape weight management solution. It has made a tremendous difference in the weight loss efforts of thousands across the US and Canada - over 10 million pounds to date.

As always, please consult your physician before embarking on any weight management program. The most difficult part of losing weight is getting started. Find your inspiration and take action now.

The Hard Truth About Weight Loss

The US Department of Agriculture report "Profiling Food Consumption in America" states that "Although multiple factors can account for weight gain, the basic cause is an excess of energy intake over energy expenditure." Translation, we gain weight when we eat more calories than we burn.

Part of the weight loss challenge is that too many diets and diet experts spend far too much time tinkering around the edges of the problem by selling ideas that have little effect on real weight loss. They promote dieting, intense exercise, pills, supplements and shots. All to no avail.

There is a simple fact that cannot be avoided. To lose weight, you must eat fewer calories than you expend. Nothing else will work.

If you're serious about losing weight there are some things you must know and truths you must face if you're to be successful.

o Burning more calories than you eat is the ONLY WAY to lose weight. You must burn 3500 calories more than you eat in order to lose 1 pound of body weight.

o It is almost physiologically impossible for the average person to lose more than about 4 pounds of body fat in one week. Even with a Basal Metabolic Rate of 2,500 calories and eating only 500 calories each day, it would only be possible to lose 14,000 calories per week, that's 4 pounds. Exercising on top of that or staying on that diet for very long would be virtually impossible for most people.

o Any diet that promises 20 pounds of weight loss in 30 days is talking mainly about losing water weight. To actually lose 20 pounds of body weight in 30 days, a 30 year old, 180 pound woman would have to burn 2,333 calories per day, that's about 233 more than her BMR. That means she would have to spend about an hour on a treadmill every day while eating nothing for an entire month. On a 500 calorie per day diet with no exercise, she could only lose about 12.86 pounds in one month, or about 3 pounds per week.

o There is no pill, product or diet on the market that can significantly increase the number of calories you burn without reducing how much you eat.

Weight loss can only be accomplished by retaining fewer calories than you eat and there are only two ways to do that. You can reduce how much you eat or you can burn off some of those calories through exercise. There is nothing else that will produce weight loss.

So if you are a typical young woman and believe you can lose 20 pounds of fat in one month, here's what you need to do. Just exercise for one hour every day and eat nothing for the entire month. That's right - eat nothing. Go ahead, try it.

Natural weight loss is a fairly simple proposition, if it's faced head on and done in an uncomplicated way. Indulging one's fantasies of losing weight with pills or with the latest "fat burning secret" will only lead to failure, disappointment and loss of self-esteem.

It you don't change your habits, your habits will make sure you never change.

My name is Larry Allen and I spent the last four years researching and analyzing why diets and exercise programs don't work to lose weight and keep it off.

"It's Just A Habit" is an bold, new, weight loss solution that shows you a natural, easy and effective way to lose weight without diets, pills or exercise programs. It provides the support and one-on-one coaching you need to successfully lose weight and keep it off.

What Is Raw Food and Why You Should Eat It

The raw food movement has been growing rapidly over the last few years, by now you have probably heard someone talking about a raw diet, or their friend on a raw diet. What does this mean, and why would anyone want to eat raw?

Food that's considered raw ranges from fruits and vegetables to unpasteurized dairy, raw nuts and seeds, and uncooked meat products. Most people who eat raw consume a mainly vegan diet, so raw milk and sashemi are not consumed regularly. Most who convert to a raw diet do so to achieve the health benefits that many claim to attain after changing their diet. Some of the reasons people eat raw are as follows.

1. Nature knows more about digestion and nutrition than science. It's true that our scientific knowledge about the body and nutrition is growing steadily, but the amount that is unknown is still astronomical. Some people dislike the compartmentalization of the body by science and the isolation of singular nutrients from food, saying a holistic approach is much more effective to health and vitality.

2. Raw food contains enzymes that help with digestion. These enzymes are destroyed by heat, so once food is cooked over a certain temperature the enzymes become damaged. Some people think this is why those who eat mainly raw food tend to look younger than their years.

3. Uncooked and unprocessed foods have life force. Also known as chi or prana, life force is the energy that is contained in living foods. Consuming this life force has spiritual and health benefits for the consumer.

If these are a little too 'airy fairy' for you, there are more tangible reasons to eat raw food. People report substantial weight loss after switching to a raw food diet, and all the health problems that came with their weight problems disappear. With the help of a healthcare professional, people have 'cured' their diseases including (but not limited to) high blood pressure, allergies, skin conditions, bowel conditions, cancer, diabetes and more. You can find a success story for just about every condition out there, that someone has cured themselves of using mainly dietary changes.

So, how much is enough? The general consensus is the more the better. If you want to receive the best health benefits, more than half of your food intake should be raw fruits and vegetables, with a few nuts and seeds. There is also evidence to show that organic and fresh food is best. Although depending on your location, it's more important to do your best than to stress about eating 100% organic.

The best way to get started eating raw food, is to switch one meal per day to be raw. If it's breakfast you could start juicing your own fruits and vegetables and switch that out for your regular cereal and milk. You're likely to lose a few pounds just making that one small change. If you don't want to splurge on a juicer, make your lunch a raw salad every day and try making your own salad dressings to keep things interesting. Once you create the new habit for yourself, it only gets easier.

The Health Benefits of Being in Love

The Health Benefits of Being in Love

Why being in love is good for you - Boxes of chocolates, lavish meals out and those late night fights; there certainly is an unhealthy side to love, but finding that special someone can bring all kinds of benefits too. So, if you’ve been considering ditching your partner, or are just feeling a little harassed by love, check out some of these relationship perks:

Love lowers risk of alcohol abuse
You may be footing a bigger weekly wine bill for all of those cosy nights in, but research has shown that you are less likely to abuse or depend upon alcohol if you are in a relationship. In the study, only four per cent of people who had been in a relationship for between two and four years misused alcohol; whilst only three per cent of those who had been in a relationship for more than five years reported abusing alcohol. However, 12 per cent of the participants who were not in a relationship in their 30’s were described as misusing alcohol and 13.5 per cent of people who had not been in a relationship for more than two years treated alcohol in an unhealthy way.
Love keeps us young
We all know that being in love and making love are two very different scenarios and apparently so does Mother Nature. Being in love is often very trying and can age us; however, research suggests that making love keeps us young. A study conducted by researchers at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital in Scotland found that those women who have sex four or more times a week look 10 years younger than their actual age. Consultant neuropsychologist Dr David Weeks said that loving couples not only look after their bodies more, but that they also benefit from the physical and emotional effects of sex. So, next time you reach for your anti-ageing cream, maybe opt for the baby oil instead?

Love: good for women, bad for men?
When you think of a married man, do you think of the grumpy, beaten-down stereotype? If you do, then don’t worry, apparently there’s some truth behind this well-worn notion. The English Longitudinal Study of Ageing found that women report a higher quality of life when they are in a relationship, but their husbands or partners report having a significantly lower quality of life. However, although it is possible that relationships fulfill the needs of women more than men, compared to single people, those in a relationship are still happier overall. In a separate study 40 per cent of married couples said they were happy, compared to only 25 per cent of single people.
Love improves our mental health
Love has many physical benefits, but it would seem that men and women who are in a relationship get lots of mental health benefits too. In New Zealand a team at the University of Otago examined 1,000 people. They found that people who had been in a relationship for longer than five years were less likely to be depressed and attempt suicide. Other studies have found similar findings, stating that married people report lower levels of depression and distress. Apparently married men are also half as likely to commit suicide as single men, and one third as likely as divorced men. Perhaps the phrase “you’re driving me crazy” should no longer be used in reference to your partner?
Love gives us more birthdays
Sadly, being in love does not mean you get to have more than one birthday a year. However, it does mean that you get to see more of them. The mortality rates for single males aged between 30 and 59 are two and half times higher than their non-single counterparts! Don’t gloat too much though girls. Single women also face a 23 percent higher mortality rate than those who are married. Researchers suggest that this difference in longevity is due to the fact that most single people have poorer health benefits, a lower income and are socially isolated. Being supported and connected to others is an essential part of keeping healthy.

Top 10 Sex Myths

Top 10 Sex Myths

Find out the real facts of life
Sex; it’s one of the most thought about subjects, but how much do we really know? Our knowledge of sex is often confused by rumours, misconceptions and outright lies. So, dust off your magnifying glass, pull out your probes and apply your long, investigative, latex gloves – it’s myth busting time:

A woman can’t get pregnant when it’s her first time
The notion that a woman cannot get pregnant the first time she has sex is still a commonly held belief. In Turkey 25 per cent of young people thought this was true. However, the truth of the matter is that without reliable contraception, pregnancy is possible, whether it is the woman’s first time or her fiftieth time.
I can’t darling, I’ve got a headache
Have you ever used the old headache excuse, or been denied some loving action because of one? Well, we have a cure for her sore head because sex has medicinal properties. When women have sex, endormorphins are released into her body, which in turn relieves pain. Therefore getting under the covers should help ease a woman’s headache.
Men always want it

Although many men in their late teens and early twenties want a lot of it, men do not always want to have sex. Lots of things affect people’s sex drives; stress being one of the biggest culprits. If you don’t feel like it, there’s nothing wrong with you. On average Briton’s have sex six to seven times per month, whilst American’s on average have sex twice a week.

If you masturbate you run out of semen
This is not true. The amount of semen a man ejaculates varies, being between half a teaspoon and a whole teaspoon of fluid. This equates to 40-500 million sperm.  Men who ejaculate a lot in one day may notice that the volume of semen decreases, but there is no risk of you running out of semen, you will simply produce more.
Older people don’t do it
Talking about old people getting frisky can embarrass some people; but let’s face it everyone likes sex, even the granddads and grandmas. Many people think that after the menopause women lose interest in sex, but this is not always true. Many older people enjoy an active sex life beyond the menopause and it has lots of health benefits too.
It’s good to lose your virginity when you are young
Although people are having sex younger, many regret it. The average age to lose your virginity is 16 in the UK. It was 21 in the 1950s. Sixty-three percent of sexually active adolescents wished they had waited longer and eighty-nine percent of those surveyed would advise their own brother, sister or friend not to have sex until at least after finishing secondary school.
Thin condoms break
If a condom is your preferred method of contraception, which type do you choose? There are a lot of condoms on the market: ribbed ones, sleek fitting ones, the thin, the thick and the pina colada flavored. Whichever you use, you don’t have to worry about the thickness because Durex reassures us that the thickness of the condom doesn't necessarily correspond to safety.
We’re all porn Stars
Watching two of Hollywood’s finest stars perform a hot love scene is great for getting you in the mood, but it should not be used as a sex guide. Real people do not come every time and last for three hours. Studies show that 75 per cent of men orgasm two to three minutes after penetration and an estimated 30 per cent of women can only achieve orgasm through masturbation.
Men cheat more than Women
When you hear that a couple have split up because of an affair it is easy to assume it was the man’s fault, but recent studies suggest that women are much better at keeping their affairs secret. According to Dr David Holmes between eight and 15 per cent of children haven't been fathered by the man who thinks he's the biological parent.
Women don’t Ejaculate
Not all women ejaculate, but some do. If you have seen women ejaculate during pornography this is not an accurate depiction. In reality, women ejaculate a small amount of fluid, which is a mixture of urine and a liquid from the G-spot (the female equivalent to a prostate). However, most women do not experience ejaculation, so if you don’t, there’s no need to worry.

What you should know about sex, but don’t...
We all do it, or at least want to be doing it, but do you know everything you need to? Even if you consider yourself to be a Karma Sutra king or queen, sex is a deep and complex subject and, quite frankly, there’s bound to be something you haven’t yet discovered. So, let’s talk sex:

Sex is good for you
According to male legend Arnold Schwarzenegger ‘The best activities for your health are humping and pumping’. In many ways this is true; safe sex does have lots of health benefits. Those who have sex once or twice a week have been shown to have higher levels of immunoglobulin A or IgA, an antibody which helps protect you from respiratory diseases like the cold and flu. Also researchers have found that men in their 20s who had five or more ejaculations per week were one third less likely to develop prostate cancer in later life. It would seem Mr Schwarzenegger is on to something.
Get more sex
Everyone wants more sex and we know how you can get it. Dr Helen Fisher, biological anthropologist at Rutgers University explains that ‘People fall in love when dopamine levels rise in their brains”. This is the neurotransmitter that controls the brain’s reward and pleasure centres. You can only get more dopamine by doing two things. The first is to have more sex. The second is to recreate a rush of dopamine by doing an exciting activity, such as bungee jumping, flying in a helicopter or even doing something simple like climbing a tree. Once you have raised your partner’s levels of dopamine, they will want to have sex with you more.
Sex o’clock
When we think of having a romantic encounter with that special someone, we often think of moonlight hitting silk sheets or candles flickering in a seductive, half-lit room. However, our bodies may be more attuned to having sex in the morning. Men’s testosterone levels peak in the morning and so men become more easily aroused at this time. Although many men wake up erect anyway, this does not actually mean they are sexually aroused – but what better way to start a day be it giving or receiving.
Who enjoys sex more?

When you’re under the covers, who is enjoying sex more; him or her? Interestingly this is not a new debate. In Ancient Greek mythology Hera complained to Zeus that he got more pleasure from their sex than she did. According to a new study, it is possible that Hera was telling the truth. Researchers at the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, found that nearly nine out of 10 young men reported having an orgasm most or all of the time they have sex with their partner.  However, less than half of young women experience orgasm that frequently when they have sex with their partner.

Rules of attraction
It is possible that beauty is not in the eye of the beholder, but rather in the nose of the beholder. We have sex because we have an innate instinct to reproduce.  Therefore we are attracted to certain people because they will produce a strong baby. We find out who will produce these strong babies through our noses. For example, when people sweat pheromones are released; revealing their type of immune system. If their immune system is the opposite to the person smelling them, the two will be a good match, and should find each other irresistible.
How to tell when she wants it
We all know women are hard to read, but there are several physical clues that can help you to know when a woman wants to have sex with you. Firstly, when a woman is aroused her pupils will dilate. If a woman sees a man who she likes when out, but does not know him, she will give him prolonged eye contact. Her lips will also purse and if you catch her repeatedly gazing at your lips then it is very likely that she wants you. However, if a woman crosses her legs or arms and repeatedly looks away from you, it’s time to leave.
We all had a clitoris
Wouldn’t it be great to be able to understand what it is like to be a member of the opposite sex? Once upon a time, it would seem we were not all that different from each other. In the first trimester of pregnancy, the fetus is gender neutral, being neither male nor female. However, the fetus has all the makings of a clitoris and vagina. It is not until eight to 12 weeks have passed that males become distinct.
